Church of England funeral
Church of England funerals can take place in almost any venue and can be personalised with songs, flowers and poems. When you come to AFD, we let your choices guide us and provide patient, step-by-step support to help you plan the funeral you want.
Orthodox Christian funeral

Burial is the traditional option for Christian funerals. We can help you arrange a traditional church service, a graveside ceremony or something unique.
Cremation

Cremation is the most popular option for funerals in the UK. Our full cremation package includes a ceremony at the date and venue of your choice.
Direct cremation
From £2,100
If the person who died didn't want a lot of fuss, you may want to consider direct cremation. With this option, the person is cremated without a funeral ceremony,

Are you Christian funeral directors?
Akshardham Funeral Directors is not strictly a Christian funeral home. As multi-faith funeral directors, we serve all religious communities with the same care, respect and expertise.
Should a Christian choose cremation or burial?
Some Christian denominations, such as Catholicism and Eastern Orthodox Christianity, forbid cremation or strongly discourage it. If you're a member of one of these communities, you may want to choose a burial funeral instead.
At the end of the day, however, it comes down to your beliefs and what feels right for you within the boundaries of your faith.
Can a Catholic funeral be held on a Sunday?
Traditionally, Catholic funerals are not held on Sundays. This is because Catholics believe Sunday should be a day of rest. Sundays are also reserved for the main weekly mass.
